22. COVID-19 + Self-Isolation w/ Alex Dyson

Usually this show attempts to solve the world's less pressing problems, but this week there's really only one issue that the world is talking about: corona virus. This devastating pandemic has seen unprecedented measures put in place to protect people around the world from illness and death. Countries have been placed into lockdown, health systems have been tested, supermarket shelves have been emptied, and as this episode drops Australia has just closed its borders to all non-residents. It's hard to find hope among all of this. And so, we turn to a man currently in 14 days of self-isolation after returning from a trip to New Zealand - despite being of good health. Former triple j Breakfast host turned author Alex Dyson has, like many, had plans and events greatly disrupted by COVID-19, yet offers some tips on how to turn self-isolation into a positive, productive experience. Alex Dyson is on Instagram @aedyson and on Twitter @AlexDyson. Alex's debut novel When It Drops releases on May 1, and it can be pre-ordered right now at Booktopia. You can also hear his adventures in self-isolation on the podcast Mirth. Thanks for listening - stay safe - and you can drop me a line anytime at whatshallwedopod@gmail.com. And don't forget there's plenty of episodes to catch up on if you're looking for something to do across the coming months! Due to the nature of this topic, I'm dropping this episode a few days early. We'll continue with regular Tuesday episodes from March 31 - with a number of excellent topics and guests recorded before self-isolation restrictions came into place. Thanks for listening to What Shall We Do About...?, it means a lot! If you enjoyed it, please hit 'subscribe' on Apple Podcasts, or 'follow' on Spotify. You can also follow the show on Instagram. What Shall We Do About...? is hosted by Sam Robinson, who is on Twitter @samsquareeyes.
