Host Anna Harsh interviews Dr. Sally Sherman about breaking down the many barriers of dance and yoga. Sally holds a B.A. in Dance, an M.Ed. in Teaching, an M.S. in Exercise Science, and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology. She is a certified Baptiste yoga educator and has led and assisted trainings throughout the world. In addition, Sally is a regular Wanderlust presenter and certified in both Cycling and Pilates. She serves as a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Health and Human Development where she teaches Dance, Yoga, Pilates, Education and Exercise Science courses. Additionally, she is a yoga researcher at the Pitt Healthy Lifestyle Institute where she investigates the health impacts of yoga with funding from the National Institutes of Health. Her original work investigated the energy expenditure of vinyasa yoga and validated it as a viable form of moderate physical activity. That study is published in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health. As an athlete, Sally competes in long-distance cycling events, mountain bike races, marathons, ultra-marathons, and IRONMAN triathlons.
