EPISODE 37 - Today we speak with Matt Cuthbert from The Niagara Furniture Bank located in St. Catharines, Ontario Canada Our Mission Niagara Furniture Bank collects gently used home furnishings in order to provide individuals and families in the Niagara Region with the beds, tables, chairs and other furnishings that turns a “shelter” into “home”. About NIAGARA FURNITURE BANK Shelter is the first step. But often every resource is drained just paying first and last month’s rent and utility deposits. It is very difficult to get up in the morning and look for work or go to school if you’ve been sleeping on the floor. Poverty is very isolating. But with a couch and coffee table and a lamp in the living room, children will invite their friends over to play. With a kitchen table and chairs a friend can be invited to share a meal and meaningful conversations may take place. A parent can cook a meal at home instead of going for fast food if there are pots and pans. We turn shelter into homes because no one deserves to sleep on the floor. ***Some great recent articles about Matt and his team in our local papers - - Furniture Bank stepped in to meet needs during pandemic - 'We need those champions in our community': Niagara Furniture Bank looking for heroes to help people sleep safely https://niagarafurniturebank.com/ ___ For more about our business please visit https://upcyclecanada.ca/ Podcast created by True Media Solutions Have a podcast and need a great website?
