“Beauty” … such a loaded word, isn’t it? (I hear it’s even been known to sink a ship or two.) No matter what we think we think about "beauty," the truth is that the concept impacts EVERYTHING in our lives — from art to the environment to our health to the way we spend our dollars and the way we see ourselves. This week, I chat with Alicia Maxwell (aka your beauty bestie) about the words we use when we talk about beauty so that we can view this broad and ever-relevant topic from a new angle. A few things we touch on: The history behind the word “beauty” and its impact on, well, the way we live (nbd, right?). The inseparability of beauty and marketing, including Helena’s Rubenstein’s invention of “oily,” “dry,” and “combination” skin. Maybe you’ve heard of them? Beauty’s role in our health and sustainability — ie, can we really trust the brands that call themselves “green?” Resources & Links: Learn more about our guest, Alicia Maxwell, here: https://youronlinebeautybestie.com/cleanbeauty All music is by Jack Pierce Connect with the podcast team (i.e., Nicole!) at itsallpoetry.podcast@gmail.com Sign up for weekly marketing prompts that don’t feel gross here.
