Slippery Slope is a true crime podcast about a most intriguing crime. It’s about Mount Isa and a missing….. waterslide. Hosted by comedians Dave O'Neil and Brad Oakes, who uncovered this story while touring in remote Queensland. It’s a story that starts in remote Mount Isa and ends up in international waters, from Turkey to the Suez Canal to Townsville, with an incident involving - wait for it - a pirate attack! Slippery Slope starts in one of the most unique places in Australia, Mount Isa. A town built around a mine in the middle of Queensland, a land that has been sought after for it’s minerals from it’s original indigenous owners all the way to 2025 where a Swiss commodity trading company is in charge of the mine. Dave and Brad investigate the world of waterslides, asking tough questions, like 'What is the relationship between Queensland and waterslides?’ And ‘Why are waterslides made in Turkey?’ And more importantly ‘What would pirates do with a waterslide?’ But the story is about people, the people of Mount Isa. You’ll meet Cogho (no full name necessary) the Deputy Mayor whose ancestors founded the town, Danielle the former Mayor who pushed the waterslide through council, and Greg the Mayor on Cloncurry the nearest town to Mount Isa who is anti-water slide.
